We asked you to join us for our Māori Language Moment and you made history by creating the largest, single celebration of the Māori language in history.
Never have so many people ever celebrated our language together at the same time.
In joining our Māori Language Moment, you became part of a Māori Language Movement that began a generation ago when, in 1972, 30,000 signatures were delivered to Parliament calling for te reo Māori to be taught in schools. Those language champions always had future generations in its sights and so do we.
We want to grow one million speakers by 2040.
Sign up now to be part of the movement.

Te Rangaihi Reo Māori
No matter how well you can kōrero Māori, you can be one in a million speakers of te reo Māori by 2040. The Māori Language Movement is an open invitation to all New Zealanders to treasure and celebrate something that is part of our identity as New Zealanders - te reo Māori.
By signing up, you’re committing to learn and speak as much te reo as you can, alongside a million others.
